Bridal Glow: How to Get Perfect Skin for Your Wedding Day

You’ve got the man. You’ve got the venue. You’ve got the dress – but will you have the elusive bridal glow on your big day? All eyes are going to be on you and you want to look flawless for your big day – hair, makeup, skin, all of it! You can trial the hair and makeup, but how do you make sure your skin will be picture perfect on your big day? Say ‘I do’ to these 6 tips and your skin is sure to be glowing by the time you’re ready to walk down the aisle!

Get An Early Start

That real bridal glow doesn’t just happen overnight. If you really want to get your skin in tip-top shape, start early, like really early. If you stick to a routine for an entire year, you’ll give yourself enough time to find the right products and the right routine that will give you exactly what you’re looking for on your big day. Don’t worry, if you don’t have that kind of time, just start as soon as you can and you’ll be good to go.

From the Inside Out

No matter what type of skin you have – oily, dry, or a combination – your skin needs water. Drinking water will definitely help, but for those days when you need a little extra flavor, superfoods like watermelon, grapefruit, cucumbers, tomatoes and even kale (yes, I said kale) will do the trick. Grab your handy-dandy water bottle or pack your lunch with a little extra deliciousness and give your skin the hydration it desperately needs.

Get Your Beauty Sleep

Squeezing in Z’s is not easy when you’re planning a giant party, but you have to put down the planner and get some sleep! It’s so important to sleep because that’s when you’re giving your body the time it needs to balance itself out. Your skin is able to recover moisture and excess water is sent on its way, but if you’re not getting enough sleep you can say hello to puffy bags under your eyes, under-eye circles, dryness, and more visible wrinkles.

Deep Clean With a Mask

Everyone’s skin is different, but a deep clean does everyone good. Masks unclog your pores and cleanse your skin. The tricky part is finding the right mask for your skin. Do you need a mask to clear toxins and impurities? Then try this one. Do you want to get rid of that dead skin, without scrubbing? Try this one. Do you want to hydrate and detoxify at the same time? The dead sea mud mask is the way to go.

Remember to Exfoliate

You could be cleansing, moisturizing, and slathering on all kinds of amazing skin care products, but if you don’t take the time to exfoliate, you’re missing a major step. It’s especially important as you get older. As we age, the cell regeneration process significantly slows down and the dead skin can pile up pretty quickly. Exfoliating removes that layer of dead cells and leaves your skin looking fresh and healthy. Find a good rhythm for your skin type, whether it’s once a week or once a month, and stick to it.

Use Skin-Specific Moisturizer

Just like the masks, not all moisturizers are created equal. For my fellow oily skin ladies, you still want to hydrate your skin, without adding more moisture. Look for products that include hyaluronic acid or ferulic acid and that are oil-free. This will help your skin maintain water without adding extra oil where you don’t need it. For dry skin, you can look for the same ingredients, but you don’t need to worry about grabbing an oil-free formula. If you have skin that breaks out easily, look for a non-comedogenic moisturizer (it will be on the bottle, I promise). Get to know your skin and what works best for you. If you need a little help in that department, make an appointment with a dermatologist and they can help you narrow in on your skin type and find products that will work best for you.
